What is Risk Management?
Updated October 19, 2026
Risk management is the set of rules that keeps your losses small enough to survive and keep trading.
It covers how much you risk per trade, where your stops go and how many trades you open at once.
Many traders risk 1% to 2% of the account per trade so a losing streak doesn't sink them.
If you let an AI or manager trade for you, their risk management is what you're really buying. Ask about it first.
Example
With $1,000 you risk $10 per trade, so even 10 losses in a row leave you with $900.
Questions people ask

Never risk more than you can afford to lose, on any single trade or overall.
Does risk management mean I will profit?
