What is Trading Session?

Updated October 21, 2026

A trading session is a block of hours when a major financial center is open, like Asia, London or New York.

Forex runs 24 hours by moving through sessions around the world.

Each session has its own feel. Asia is calmer, London and New York are busier.

Many bots only trade certain sessions to avoid quiet, costly hours.

Example

A gold bot is set to trade only from London open to New York close.
