What is STP Broker?

Updated October 17, 2026

An STP broker passes your orders straight to liquidity providers, usually with a small markup on the spread.

STP means Straight Through Processing. Your trades go out to the market without a dealing desk.

Instead of a commission, the cost is often baked into a slightly wider spread.

It sits between ECN and market maker setups.

Example

An STP account shows EURUSD at 1.1 pips with no commission.

Questions people ask

STP or ECN?

ECN is often cheaper for heavy traders. STP is simpler for casual ones.
