What is Market Maker?
Updated October 17, 2026
A market maker broker sets its own prices and often takes the other side of your trade.
Market makers create the market for you. When you buy, they may be the seller.
They often offer fixed spreads and no commission, which is simple for beginners.
There's a possible conflict of interest, so pick one that's well regulated.
Example
A market maker gives you a fixed 2 pip spread on EURUSD all day.
Questions people ask
Do market makers want me to lose?
Good ones hedge their risk, but regulation is your best protection.
Are fixed spreads good?
They're predictable, though often wider than raw spreads.
