Print on Demand vs Dropshipping

Updated October 16, 2026

Print on demand sells your own designs printed after each order. Dropshipping sells other people's products shipped by a supplier. Both skip holding stock.

With print on demand you upload designs to shirts, mugs or posters. When someone buys, a printer makes and ships it, and you keep the margin.

With dropshipping you list products from a supplier. When someone orders, the supplier ships it straight to them, so you never touch the item.

Both need ads or traffic to get sales, and margins can be thin. Neither is fully hands free, and you can lose money on ads that don't convert.
