What is Micro Lot?

Updated October 17, 2026

A micro lot is 1,000 units of the base currency, shown as 0.01, and the usual starting size for beginners.

A micro lot is the smallest size most brokers offer. On EURUSD a pip is worth around 10 cents.

It's perfect for learning with real money without feeling every move in your gut.

Lots of copy trading and AI bot setups run on micro lots for small accounts. That keeps risk lower, though losses can still add up.

Example

A 0.01 lot trade that loses 40 pips costs about $4.
