What is Scalping?

Updated October 19, 2026

Scalping is making many very quick trades to grab small moves of a few pips each.

Scalpers might be in and out within minutes or seconds.

It needs low spreads and fast execution, so it suits ECN accounts and bots.

Small wins can be wiped out by one big loss if stops aren't tight.

Example

A scalping bot takes 30 trades in a day aiming for 3 to 5 pips each.
