What is Affiliate Link?

Updated October 21, 2026

An affiliate link is a tracking link that tells a company you sent the buyer so you get credit.

The link has your ID baked in. When someone clicks and buys, it's tracked to you.

Most links use cookies that last days or weeks.

Some platforms hide or limit links, so many creators use a bio link page.

Example

Your link looks like site.com/?ref=yourname and tracks every signup.

Questions people ask

Can people avoid my link?

They can, but most don't bother.

How long does tracking last?
