What is Ask Price?

The ask is the price you pay when you buy.

The ask sits a little above the bid. That gap is the spread.

Buy trades open at the ask. Sell trades close at the ask.

A sell stop loss triggers on the ask, which surprises a lot of people.

Example

EURUSD ask 1.08512, so a buy opens at 1.08512.

Why did my sell stop hit when the chart didn't touch it?

The ask touched it, and charts often only show the bid.

Is ask the same as offer?

Yes, both names are used.
