What is Market Order?

Updated October 18, 2026

A market order buys or sells right away at the best price available now.

Click buy or sell and you're in at the current price. That's a market order.

It's fast but you can get slippage in fast markets.

Most beginners start with market orders because they're simple.

Example

You click buy on EURUSD and get filled instantly at 1.0852.

Questions people ask

Does a market order always fill?

In normal conditions yes, but maybe at a slightly different price.

When should I avoid market orders?
